First Impression is Very Good

We just received delivery on our Samsung gas range and I have some initial thoughts. First, the range itself is lighter than our old one. I think that the past 30 years have seen changes in thought about the necessity of using higher gauges of steel in appliances. In one way, I like the fact that I can easily pull the range out of its niche if necessary. On the other hand, I sigh when I think of how sturdily appliances like this were built in the past. I do believe, however, that the lighter-gauged steel will not be a problem.
The overall appearance of the range is clean and uncluttered. We chose white to match our other appliances in our all-white kitchen. We love the continuous grate instead of individual burner grates. Pans can be moved around without lifting. I don't know the BTU rating on the burners on our old stove, but we like the variety of heat output at the different burners. I have noticed that the sound of the burners is higher than on our old range, but I can't really compare since the old range is gone. We have not yet used the griddle, but very much appreciate the inclusion of this add-on to the range. We also have not yet used the self-cleaning function.
The oven heats much more quickly than the old range, to 375 in 8 minutes, a comparative world record in our experience. We haven't used the oven convection feature yet, so can't comment on that. The storage drawer at the bottom is quite shallow and we cannot store the pans we used to in the old oven. However, this does provide more room in the oven.
I might add to this--and this could be standard these days--the leveling feet are made from high-impact plastic, which means they don't leave marks after being moved. The old range had steel feet, which left metallic scratches on our tile when it was moved.
